PAU PROMOTES CROP DIVERSIFICATION AMONG FPOs
Dec8,2022 | MEENU GALHOTRA |The Department of Extension Education, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), organized a two-day training programme on “Crop Diversification” for the members of Farmer-Producer Organizations (FPOs) under the aegis of Directorate of Extension Education. This programme, which was sponsored by NABARD, saw the participation of 30 FPOs from all over Punjab. Dr Kuldeep Singh, Head, Department of Extension Education and Coordinator of the programme, briefed about the course and said that this programme was planned to acquaint the FPOs with different crop diversification options. Dr Lavleesh Garg, Co-coordinator of the programme, explained the role of FPOs in the present day farming. Dr Pankaj Kumar, Co-coordinator of the programme, informed that various lectures viz. cultivation of sugarcane, pulses and oilseed crops; integrated farming system; cultivation of vegetable crops; and cultivation of fruit crops were delivered by respective scientists of the University. Expert lectures on processing of main crops of Punjab, cultivation of flowers, maize crop, fodder, and branding and marketing of products were also delivered by the scientists.
