Improvements in global commodity prices and growth in emerging economies are expanding domestic and export markets, creating opportunities for smallholder farmers who can consistently link high production with sales. Finding ways to link smallholder farmers to markets is key to reducing rural poverty and hunger. Governments need to invest in local infrastructure, strengthen business services and improve farmers’ skills, while extension systems are needed to upgrade production and market performance. With these objectives, PAMETI in collaboration with MANAGE, Hyderabad organised a 4-day off campus training from 16 to 19 May,2023. 19 participants from Punjab and Haryana attended this training. Dr Shalendra from MANAGE, Hyderabad inaugurated the training and discussed government schemes and programs that promote entrepreneurship and give grants to the well-developed projects. Dr Ramandeep Singh, Director School of Business Studies discussed cases of the various successful agri preurers from Punjab who have been able to build their own place in the market and do self marketing. An exposure visit was carried on the third day to APC in PAU and Ciphet to emphasize the importance of Value addition. The training concluded on 19th May and Dr Harmeet Kaur explained the importance of agri supply chain in any venture. Trainees appreciated the efforts of PAMETI and MANAGE, Hyderabad to organize such trainings in future too.
